Do you find yourself struggling to connect with your partner? Feeling isolated in your marriage but not sure how you got there? Longing for a deep connection but keep running into the same roadblocks over and over again? Or thought that your relationship was great, but discovered a partner’s betrayal along the way? If so, you have come to the right place.
I specialize in working with couples and individuals struggling with relationship issues, such as infidelity, conflict, desire discrepancies, betrayal, trauma and broken trust. I practice from an attachment based lens, which examines how early relationships, throughout childhood and adolescence, create the programming or blueprint for the way we navigate relationships today. We tend to develop patterns of relational anxiety or avoidance based on a combination of innate wiring and the consistency (or lack thereof) that our caregivers provided growing up. We then tend to be drawn to familiar dynamics later in life, even once we realize they no longer serve us. We find ourselves reliving the same patterns of drama and trauma, hoping for a different outcome, but without the tools to break the cycle. If you find yourself stuck in dissatisfying or disconnected relationships, this is where therapy can help.
I utilize Emotions Focused Therapy as my primary theoretical model. In our work together, we will explore the impact of your early and current relationships on your emotional landscape, and the role that stuck emotions can play in inhibiting your ability to connect with loved ones. I am a warm and compassionate provider and utilize a gentle, yet direct approach to help challenge dysfunctional patterns and initiate growth. I believe that healing is done in the context of safe and loving relationships, both inside and out of the therapeutic setting. So the foundation of relational safety in our connection is therefore essential.
I am a queer affirming provider and work with clients of all racial, cultural, sexual orientation, gender identity, and intersectional identities. My background and training began working in a domestic violence shelter, providing brief and long-term therapy and crisis support for individuals stuck in unhealthy patterns of relational abuse. My experience working in this setting informs my practice today. I am passionate about healing relationships and creating the connections that we all long for.
